Great reviews help everyone. Follow these guidelines to write reviews that are helpful, honest, and make a real difference.
Core principles
Every review on TheUserOpinion should follow these four principles
Authenticity
Every review must be based on a genuine, first-hand experience with the business. Fake reviews — whether positive or negative — undermine trust for everyone. We use advanced detection systems to identify and remove inauthentic content.
Relevance
Reviews should focus on your experience with the business's products or services. Keep the content relevant — avoid personal rants, political commentary, or topics unrelated to the business being reviewed.
Respect
You can be critical without being cruel. Constructive criticism helps businesses improve and helps other consumers make decisions. Avoid personal attacks, profanity, and threatening language.
Privacy
Protect everyone's privacy. Don't include full names of employees, personal contact information, or details that could identify private individuals. Refer to staff by role or first name only.

Do
- Be specific about your experience — mention what you purchased, when, and what happened
- Include both positives and negatives for a balanced review
- Update your review if the business resolves your issue
- Be respectful and professional, even when sharing criticism
- Add photos or receipts to support your review
- Include details like delivery time, customer service quality, and product condition
- Write your review soon after the experience while details are fresh
Don't
- Post reviews for businesses you haven't actually used
- Include personal information (addresses, phone numbers, full names of employees)
- Use hate speech, threats, or discriminatory language
- Post the same review across multiple businesses
- Accept payment or incentives from a business in exchange for a review
- Create multiple accounts to leave multiple reviews for the same business
- Include links to competing businesses or promotional content

What happens if guidelines are violated?
Reviews that violate our guidelines may be removed. Repeated violations may result in account suspension. If you believe a review violates our guidelines, you can flag it for our moderation team to review.
