Windscribe

Windscribe is a virtual private network service and ad blocker that encrypts traffic and hides users' IP addresses. It supports WireGuard, IKEv2, and OpenVPN, plus Stealth and WStunnel modes that disguise VPN traffic on restrictive networks, along with a firewall-based kill switch, split tunneling, and Double Hop routing.

It is popular with budget-conscious users and tinkerers, offering a free plan with a monthly data allowance and unlimited simultaneous connections on every plan. Its R.O.B.E.R.T. tool blocks ads, trackers, and malware at the DNS level, and paid users can add static IPs and port forwarding. The apps are open source and have been independently audited.

Windscribe offers monthly and yearly Pro plans, plus a Build A Plan option priced per location. Founded in 2016 by Yegor Sak, Alex Paguis, and Mark Ulicki, the company is based in Toronto, Canada, and describes itself as self-funded and independent.
