Mullvad VPN

Mullvad VPN is a virtual private network service built around privacy and anonymity. Signing up requires no email address or personal details: each account is a randomly generated number, and payment can be made by card, PayPal, bank transfer, cryptocurrency, or even cash sent by post.

It is designed for privacy-conscious users, journalists, and technical audiences who want minimal data collection. The service is built on WireGuard, with obfuscation options, multihop, quantum-resistant tunnels, and DAITA protection against traffic analysis. It runs on RAM-only servers that have been independently audited, and its apps are open source.

Mullvad charges a single flat price of €5 per month with no discounts or long-term deals, and allows up to five devices per account. Founded in 2009 by Fredrik Strömberg and Daniel Berntsson, the company is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and remains owned by its founders.
